4 Places in and Around Your Home Pests are Likely to Hide Inside

Everyone has to deal with unwanted guests at some point, but there are cases when the ones visiting your home are decidedly rodent-like or insectile. And, the bad news is that these guests are difficult to kick out. Do you hear some scurrying or squeaking, but don’t know from where the sound is coming? Look in these spots.

  1. Stuffed animals: Bedbugs may be called that because they usually burrow under mattresses and sheets, but they’re not actually that picky. These small, brown, oval insects also settle in soft fabric spaces like that stuffed bunny or bear plush in your child’s playroom. Given how their bites can cause rashes and infections, you should always be on the lookout for them. In fact, make it a habit to wash these stuffed animals to prevent infestations.
  1. Gutters. Leaves, pine needles and other loose debris settle inside your gutters over time. The accumulation is usually the perfect hiding spot for a variety of pests – furred, winged or otherwise. When overlooked, mold can form on this buildup, allowing for a number of health risks if you’re exposed to it.
  1. Behind appliances: Another ideal nesting spot for pests is the area behind your appliances. While they are usually pushed up against the wall, your fridge and dishwasher still has enough space in the back where pests can hide. The fact that these spots usually have moisture and food residue around make them attractive to many species of bugs. Keep your home safer, cleaner and healthier by dealing with possible infestations promptly.
