Where Could Pests Be Hiding in Your Home?

Regardless of the season, pests ranging from bugs to rodents can infest your home and continue doing so undetected. Nevertheless, being able to spot them out in the open doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll be able to expel them as well. In order to address pest infestation, it’s critical to find their base and drive them out from there.

Here are a few places in your home where pests commonly set up shop.

“Sealed” Boxes

It’s easy to assume that sealed cardboard boxes are safe from pests. However, there are insects that could easily thrive by devouring paper, fabric and even leather. Silverfish, small and silver-colored insects that move fast, are a good example of this. They also have a slim shape, making it easy for them to squeeze through tiny cracks and get inside containers that are supposedly sealed.

Appliances and Fireplaces

Appliances typically have gaps due to their wall hookups, and these areas are a great place for bugs and rodents to hide. Furthermore, with their running motors, refrigerators and stoves usually provide a warm place for these creatures to snuggle up. You can also find some of them in fireplaces, radiators and water heaters. Make sure to clean these out regularly, and call a professional to do a chimney sweep.

Junk Drawer

You probably have at least one disorganized drawer in your home that you use for stashing a wide array of things. Be careful, though, because these junk drawers often provide spiders with dark, undisturbed spots where they can hide. Keep spiders away by cleaning out your junk drawers at home.
